A guide to buying salvage cars.

This article is all about salvage cars and how to go about searching for one and buying the right one at the right price.

With all the hype now about checking to make sure the car you're buying is HPI clear, business's offering reg check facilities like my car check are really bringing home the bacon. This service of allowing you to check, in a matter of minutes, whether a car has been in an accident, may have previously been written off, or has some form of police interest like been reported as stolen by its owner or outstanding finance still owed.

With this new technology now available to every man and his dog, rather than just the local authoroties, as once was, it means there are now more salvage cars than ever before. These cars have always been in circulation but unless anyone ever checked the vehicle details against the HPI register than anyone looking to buy a used car would never have known its history. As a result many salavge cars could have slipped under the radar.

With registration plate look up services now costing as little as £3 done either by going online or by sms text message, it means paying to do a HPI style check now doesn't break the bank and anyone looking to by a used car can now do so and justify the cost of checking its history. I mean what's a couple of quid text message really worth if it alerts you to a vehicle that has outstanding finanace owed? Potentially thousands if you were to buy your new second hand car only to find that you could be left high and dry after spending your hard earned wonga, you could end up having to give the car back to its rightful owner, usually the finance company. Imagine if you'd borrowed money to pay for the car in the first place.

But, providing you're aware of what you're buying and if the price is right than buying a salvage car can save you an absolute packet. All you have to do is use your noodle and you could end up with an absolute bargain!

9 times out of 10 the person selling the car isn't aware of its past!
