23 Jun 2010 - Volkswagen Passat (2005 - ) Review
Stylish, safe and reliable but does the new Passat have what it takes to lose that dull persona?
The Passat, in its latest form, brings an exciting new look than its earlier models. The slight curve of the body and revamped headlights bring a little flare to what was a rather boring shape.
In estate guise the Passat offers a brilliant alternative to many of the current offerings on the market. Load space is sufficient and there's plent of room for all the family. Whether you opt for the petrol or diesel you should be able to find an engine that suits. 1.4 and 1.8 turbo charged models are available as well as the fast and furious R36 V6. Diesel options include a 1.6 and three 2.0 models all with varying power outputs.
The cabin is as you would expect from the Passat, well built and functional. The only gripe being the rather fiddly electronic parking brake and ignition system.
As a family car or small executive the Passat shouldn't dissapoint with residual prices good and running costs not too high.
